Coursework Guide.

GCSE ICT is made up of a substantial amount of coursework, which accounts for around half of your final grade.

Horbury School studies the NEAB Information Technology syllabus which has coursework worth 50% of the total mark. The coursework is divided up into two seperate projects:-

  • A board set assignment, usually made up of several tasks linked together into an imaginary project to solve an ICT problem
  • A project that the student has to identify and document themselves

System Life Cycle

When an Information Technologist needs to provide a solution to an Information Processing problem, they follow a series of steps that are described in a process called the System Life Cycle.

There are different and sometimes more complex ways of describing the System Life Cycle, but for the purpose of the GCSE syllabus, you are awarded marks for these sections:-

  1. Analysis
  2. Design
  3. Implementation
  4. Testing
  5. Evaluation
  6. User Guide

You should also spend some time working on identifying the problem. To find out how to do this, click here
