Self Confidence

I.C.T. is an extremely useful subject that develops personal communication skills, which in turn enable students to be able to express themselves more clearly and effectively.

This increases I.C.T. students self confidence.

I.C.T. empowers students by giving them these skills:-

  • Presentation skills
  • Research skills
  • Communication skills

Positive Attitude

I.C.T. is very enjoyable. Students should develop a positive attitude and recognise that they can learn new skills quickly and easily. There are many ways of accomplishing the same result using I.C.T., and the final result may very well be the same, no matter what skills have been used.

Students should recognise that there will always be another way of producing the same outcome, and that this does not make their own way any less valid.

Independent Learner

I.C.T. is an engrossing activity. Students quickly learn to develop skills using "what if I do this?" type activities, and this increases their self confidence.

Students can also use I.C.T. to research topics for other subject areas, pursuing independent study.

Respect

More able students must recognise the learning journey that has led them to their current skill level. They will see that all I.C.T. users will have problems, and that they may have already met and overcome the same problem. Students should learn to respect that the learning curve in I.C.T. is an essential part of developing new skills.

Less able students will learn to respect the more advanced skills of other I.C.T. users, and not be afraid to ask for and accept help.

Informed Decisions

Students can build on their existing I.C.T. skills, and decide which is the most appropriate method to use for the task in hand.

Target

Students should always strive to extend and develop their I.C.T. skills. They should not always take the easiest route to achieve an outcome, but should stretch their own skills.
