It is quite a new qualification that was introduced to give students the chance to study for a certificate whilst learning skills that you can actually use when you get a job. Everybody must do three compulsary units, as well as a preparatory unit Preparatory UnitThis unit teaches you the basics of good computer use, which you may already be familiar with. Topics include:-
Unit 1 - Presenting InformationUnit 1 investigates how information can be presented effectively including:-
Unit 2 - Handling InformationThis unit looks at how information is handled and diferent ways that information can be processed in order to summarise and collate data. You will learn how to use a range of information processing programs such as databases and spreadsheets to design information systems that meet the requirements of the end users. This unit is assessed through your portfolio work. Throughout your GNVQ course, you will build a portfolio file of evidence that can be used to support your studies. This is a very substantial file and some of the work will be used do directly assess your GNVQ course. Topics in this unit include:-
